} Sungkyunkwan University, inside Seoul, is one of South Korea's most prestigious institutions of higher learning. The satellite campus, offering instruction in the natural sciences, is located in Suwon. Sungkyunkwan was founded around 1398 by royal decree to promote a survey of Confucianism. When Globe War II, a university was re-established as a personal institution.
